I am a married woman in my mid 40's. Originally, from the southern US but am currently living in southern California. I work in healthcare and am very passionate about helping people. From a theological perspective, I'm still figuring things out. I grew up in a protestant household that attended various Non-Denominational, Pentecostal and Assembly of God churches. I also attended a Christian school of the Baptist persuasion. A few years ago, I started questioning my beliefs. Basically, I began asking myself what I believed and why I believed it. The journey is interesting and enlightening. And the journey continues ...

I like the way you worded that ... "uncertain steps away from the religion of my youth". It is truly what I've been experiencing. I realized that my beliefs were made up of a bunch of things that people told me what was and nothing to back it up. I am the type of person that values research and education so I began looking at this from an academic perspective instead of an emotional viewpoint (the whole charismatic persuasion can get pretty worked up, if you know what I mean).

 

Ananya does have an Indian background that means "unique" or "uncomparable"; however, it is only my username, almost like an alter ego. My real family name has a Cherokee Indian heritage and my husbands name is standard English/Anglican.
