Ten members of the President’s Council on Bioethics have now released a statement concerning President Obama’s disingenuous remarks about the Bush policy on embryonic stem cell research. Bush’s policy honestly sought to mediate the demands of science with the concerns for human life, while Obama’s policy offers no respect for human life; it appears to be purely political.

Here is an excerpt from the President's Council:
Whether one agrees or not with the policy that had been in place for more than seven years, clarity and honesty require that we acknowledge its intent: to seek a way for science to proceed without violating the deep moral convictions of many of our fellow citizens…
With respect to the progress that had been made in reconciling the needs of research and the moral concerns of many Americans, we can only judge, therefore, that the president’s action has taken a step backward, and we regret that…

Gregory, where did you see this statement?
Mark,
I found it on the Hastings Center Report. You can view the entire statement on-line:

Trying not to violate deep moral convictions is a step backwards... sad...

No wonder I didn't want this guy to govern our nation...
The more I hear about O, the more disgusted I get.

How many years will it take to undo the damage he's doing to this world??
Yeah, this is why in Georgia we are turning away from the abortion debate and taking on Bioethics full face. Abortion is now only one wrong of many that are being done to humans in the name of medicine. That's why we are seeking now to define "human" under our state constitution. Everyone will still have the 'right to choose' whatever they want so long as they don't hurt fellow humans.
With all due respect President Obama is not the problem, just a symptom of it. There was a time when no political candidate could be publicly known as pro-abortion. Many factors have led to a climate where he could promise to pass the unconstitutional Freedom of Choice Act and still be taken seriously as a contender for the most important political office in the world, let alone win it. To our shame, the silence of the church on this issue is one of those factors.
