So Daniel's discussion reminded me of an old one on purgatorio that proved pretty entertaining and I think we could do at least as well here.

Supposing you were planning to attend the public BURNING. What books would you throw in, dancing with glee as you watched them alight? Contrarily, which books would you risk third degree burns to save from the fire?

To keep in the spirit of the H8Rs, you may also mention other media; albums (yeah I know no one has these anymore) works of art (esp if it's christian and crappy) etc.

eta:Same rules apply as to my group. H8 crap. No H8N the H8rs.

I would include anything written by K. Hagin, K. Copeland and anyone who teaches that Jesus became a sinner or that He literally became sin.

2 Cor 5:21 - For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

He wasn't a sinner, not born with 'original' sin and did not participate in actual sin, but he did become sin on our behalf. That is why the Father judged Him through the eternal sacrifice of the cross.

Anyways, sorry to sidetrack, Char.

He became a sin offering. Think about it - the eternal God of the all cannot become sin. If He did, He would not have been without spot or blemish. He would have become the spot and blemish.

WOW! Hijacking didn't take long on this one!
How about "Bobbed Hair, Bossy Wives, And Women Preachers" by John R. Rice.
I would definitely make a go at getting Jonathan Edwards' works out of the fire.
To burn CDs by Madonna, Cindy Lauper, Britney Spears, Motley Crue, Ozzy Osbourne and his whiny voice....

At least half the contents our local Christian mega-"book" store could increase its usefulness by serving as fuel for the flames. And it is a renewable resource, since the publishing houses keep churning out the stuff. John Eldridge could make an excellent contribution by bringing warmth to a cold world. I'm feeling my heart strangely warmed even now.

That would be wild at hearth.

I would throw in Yi Fu Tuan's "Space and Place"; a book that has nothing to do with Christianity, but is so offensively bad that it should be burned repeatedly. I might throw in Andrew Sung Park's "The Wounded Heart of God", although I feel some pity for Park.

I'm not sure if this stuff is more toxic burning or not.

xulon's been waiting years to use that one.

We could also empty out half of Barnes & Noble's Religion section, which chiefly features such notables as Spong and Crossan.

Personally, I'm thinking of the oeuvre of Hank Hanegraaff also. The books'll go but I'm not sure if a radio show is combustible. Anyway the man uses up more than his share of a's just spelling his name. Could be a problem though, burning his stuff could throw the world into a severe pat-answer shortage.

I wouldn't want Ehrman to feel left out.
