Halloween Children's Sermon

On 5th Sundays, we do not have kid's Sunday school. Instead, the kids come into adult church with their parents. Sometimes we have a short children's sermon. This is one of those Sundays.

Any ideas for an appropriate kid's sermon? I don't want to either affirm or attack Halloween in general, but I'm willing to use it. First thought - maybe something with a mask, which can be taken off to illustrate...something.

Have a door, Luther hammering up his thesis on it. Door opens, there's a mom with a bowl of candy.

Well if you want to talk about masks and Luther there's always theology of the cross. That's total win right there.

Maybe do something in the vein of the potter and the clay but using the carving of a pumpkin? Christ empties out all the yucky stuff and we become a light to those around us?

Maybe a "sad face" on one side a "Happy face" on the other. (before and after conversion)
Of course - have to be careful...wouldn't want to get into "graven images".
