Hello everyone! I am a reader of Parchment & Pen and a follower of Credo House on Facebook, so I clicked on the link when Michael posted and it looks interesting so I thought I'd give it a try. I'm a SAHM in Louisiana with two children (11 & 4), and I have many part-time jobs outside of the home. I never know what to say in these things! I grew up in the PCA (Presbyterian Church in America), and my husband was raised ABA (American Baptist Association). He became Reformed (and I got a clue) in the early 2000s. We moved to Louisiana so he could do graduate-level work and prepare for a PCA ordination (long story!). Our church left the PCA and joined the CREC, a small but growing Reformed denomination that is made up of Presbyterian and Reformed Baptist churches. I teach at our local classical Christian school, play the viola in our symphony here in our small town, and wrangle my kids in my spare time. I love to read, I'm a very amateur wildlife and nature photographer, and a digital scrapbooker.

Permalink Reply by Sarah Garner on March 18, 2012 at 8:24am Yay! Norrin had it right. :) I'm so used to digital forums with all my lady crafty friends and we throw around all the lesser-known acronyms. Stay-at-home-Mom is it. It's my job. You know, you have to fill out "employment" on lots of forms, so that's what I usually put in that spot. Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone! Whoa, that talent gallery is awesome. I might stick some stuff up there when I get up the nerve.
Permalink Reply by Daniel on March 18, 2012 at 11:20am Please share your work! I'd love to see it! As a fractal artist, I'm very familiar with the concept that not everyone is going to appreciate my work. But I've received nothing but support from the other artists here regardless of their medium.

Permalink Reply by Sarah Garner on March 18, 2012 at 1:08pm Daniel, I love fractals---do you generate them on a computer? When I was at the Naval Academy I had a company mate who was one of those scary-smart guys and he worked with fractals for fun. I think I've run across a few of them in advanced graphing sections (I teach Algebra 2 through Calculus in a high school) but I sure don't have experience with rendering them. I think they are breathtaking, and may be a great topic for my students to explore in a research paper here near the end of the year . . . you've given me a great idea!
Permalink Reply by Daniel on March 18, 2012 at 1:23pm Yes. I've used a number of free apps over the years to do them. I'm currently using my 5th different program. If you are interested in explaining the idea to students, I actually wrote up a document on how to easily explain fractals. I'm attaching it. Feel free to use it, copy it, or even totally ignore it as you see fit. :)

Welcome to Theologica. It's good to have another person from Dixie on here.
Your husband and I would have much in common, I think. I was raised in an off-shoot of the ABA.
I also pastor two small Baptist churches in LA, in Washington and Tangipahoa Parishes.
I hope you enjoy your time on T.
