Theologica

a bible, theology, politics, news, networking, and discussion site

I went to the Quirks thread and saw it is closed so I thought I'd reup it. The Quirk I have is not so theological.

Last year I took my family to Niagara Falls. Here we were walking next to one of the great wonders of the world and my Daughters (aged 10 and 6) are looking left at the $6.00 a bar Haagen Das vendor.

Last night, when I got to the airport, my family was there to greet me.

My youngest, seven year old Elijah, was as excited as one would expect a seven year old to be. My wife and older son were both happy to see me, but their excitement was subdued by the late hour and long day awaiting my delayed return.

On the way home, I, the better rested of the adults, was driving and told my family how excited I was to be home despite my grouchiness caused by the thirty six hours of travel. My youngest piped in and said, "I'm really excited you're home, Daddy!"

I replied, jokingly, "Are you really excited or are you just saying that? Did your mom put you up to saying that?"

In all seriousness he said, "No. If I wasn't excited I would tell you, 'I'm excited your home... mom told me to say that."

As I laughed my wife said, "Yeah, if he wasn't happy you'd know it."

Elijah said, "Oren tries that!"

I asked what Oren tries.

"He tries to influence me into saying things or doing things that I don't want to. He thinks he's smart, but I'm smarter than that."

I almost wrecked with laughter and shock at the clarity of statement!

On my flight between Baltimore and Atlanta I picked up the Sky Mall magazine, which I enjoy for the oddity of the products attempting to be sold.

The oddest I found last night: An electronic Feng Shui "compass" that determines the Feng Shui of a room using microwave technology.

The product that left me with a lot of questions: A Presidential inspirational painting series. The paintings were of Lincoln (bravery), Kennedy (courage), President Obama (hope), and Mrs. Obama (belief).

Wow, you've got to be joking! (@ the president thing). That's not a very good foreshadowing if you ask me. Bad carma to put all of them together like that.

Just look at the thought process...
Lincoln - Assassinated.
Kennedy - Assassinated.
Obama - ...?

When my twelve-year-old went to Florida with her mom last month, she picked up the catalog and found the exact thing I had bought her for her birthday. At four times what I paid for it.

In my recurring entries on Church signs, I saw at a Nazarene Church, Be a Loser - Follow Jesus!

Seriously, I'll have to go by it again to see if I missed some fine print.
