What Christian Periodicals Do You Read?

Years ago, I read "The Lutheran" magazine, as well as others.  One thing I appreciated in it was its coverage of "religious news" around the world.  Now, I never read it.  I have read "Lutheran Witness", but somehow I missed the date to renew my subscription, so I do without it, or read what I can from there online.  I no longer read "The Lutheran", as I have found articles on prayer and meditation from outside of Christianity.  Also, I find their teachings on morality contrary to the Bible.  A female pastor of the ELCA was not up on what was going on in her church body.  When I asked her, "Don't you read "The Lutheran", she told me she tried not to read it.  It was as though she thought problems would go away if whe didn't read about them.

One Christian magazine I really appreciate is "Forward In Christ."  Even though I am not a member of a WELS church, I find their articles truly inspiring and helpful.  Some years back I had an extra copy of "Forward In Christ" which I gave to an ELCA pastor in town.  About a week later, he told me he got his own subscription to it.

I have read the "Lutheran Sentinel" before, but did not find a lot of content, and it was more specific to the Evangelical Lutheran Synod (ELS).  Still, I did like it.

Do you have a favorite devotional book?  I like both "Portals of Prayer" (by CPH) and "Meditations" (by NPH).  I also love the book Treasury of Daily Prayer.  I wish it had been available years ago!!!  Day by Day We Magnify Thee is a collection of devotions by Luther.  What do you use?

"The Lutheran" to keep abreast of what ELCA is doing and "Upper Room" for devotions.
