What this group is NOT for....

This is not a group for people to post the latest talking points from their favorite candidate. It is not a "my guy is better than your guy" group. There is a reason why there is a brain in the middle of the group's icon. This is a group for intellectual and non-emotional talk about politics. I have a couple of recent blog posts that I am going to re-post here just to get things started. I hope you read them not just for the excellent opinions that they express

, but also for the kind of tone that they express. We should be just as irenic in talking about politics as we are discussing Calvinism, Creation, or Christianity in general.

As public figures, candidates are open to all kinds of verbal and written abuse without fear of slander. Talking about them is inevitable and is an exception to the rule that we should stay on topics and not focus on people. But it should be done in a respectful and irenic manner.

Comment by Elijah Heber on October 13, 2008 at 12:01am: Am happy with the collection of "dirt" they are finding on Gov. Palin. Seems the worst they can find is minimal compared to mud they find on others.

I've seen some videos of her in church's when she didn't need to put on a good face, and she seemed like one that would help us in the right direction.

Even though I wasn't happy with McCain's past selections, she seems to be one of his brightest moments.

Fill yourself with knowledge about each candidate and understand what each is promising for our country. And most importantly PRAY!!!! We must ask God to reveal which candidate will be the best leader for our country. Keep in mind these bible verses:

We should pray for government leaders
(1 Timothy 2:1-2)

Government should value its people (Proverbs 14:28).

Know that a government is established through righteousness (Proverbs 16:10,12).
