Who Will Save Me From This Body of Death?

Acts 22:30-23:5
"But on the next day, desiring to kow the real reason why he was being accused by the Jews, he unbound him and commanded the chief priests and all the council to meet, and he brought Paul down and set him before them. And looking intently at the council, Paul said, 'Brothers, I have lived my life before God in all good conscience up to this day.' And the high priest Ananias commanded those who stood by him to strike him on the mouth. Then Paul said to him, 'God is going to strike… Continue

Unfaithful

I posted this a year ago on another blog, but thought I'd post it here because of some conversations I've been having over Ezekial 16:

One of the lines for Derek Webb’s song “Wedding Dress” says,

I am so easily satisfied
by the call of lovers less wild,
that I would take a little cash
over your very flesh and blood

These lines speak directly to the heart of an honest Christian. I am so easily satisfied by the things I have in this world that I am constantly settling for them, opposed to th… Continue

Anyone interested in a Bible Study?

Yesterday, I began a group called Bible Study. I love interacting with everyone here on theological topics, but I believe God's word is understood not topically, but exegetically. Is there anyone interested in joining me for a Bible study? I will let the group pick the book. Please read the rules of the group before you jump in.

How Do You "Do" Theology?

Over at the Parchment and Pen, there is a commenter who has raised a challenge that he will give one million dollars to anyone that can produce a verse saying any of the following: 1) "man, by being born a sinner, deserves eternal punishment", 2) "'Grace' means God's favor extended to the undeserving", 3) "man's eternal condemnation is in any way related to his/her sin nature", 4) "produce a passage where personal sins are mentioned at the final judgment", and finally 5) "an 'eternal' death/cons… Continue

Barret; re: private discussion group. Does that mean that others cannot see it? Or only that they cannot make entries? Could a discussion be set up for 4 or 5 persons?

Barrett,

I just finished placing a larger context on my page.

I hope that the members will not vilify me for it. I suppose as I approach the 4th of July, my mind just naturally runs to heroes. And heroes are usually identified only as an afterthought, not while they are living many times.

Barrett,

I have just now gotten around to taking Superheroes quiz. A few years ago, I would have said this was just a part of the childhood that I grew up with, greatly enjoying Superman.

Then I taught with a young teacher, who loved the superheroes, and he began to compare the Superman hero figure the flashes of truth in his personna, which we may definitely find in Christ. I sat down to watch the movie again
(not George Reeves this time, but Christopher Reeve ) and could see the elements in the original story.

So, I thought this nearly 60 year old person would take the quizz, as well. The results are on my page.

Thanks for keeping us young at heart.

Yup. Humans are not objective by their nature. we can try but we never achieve true objectivity. You win the Cupie Doll...
