Dear Bishop Chacko, Brother Carl and all , Will you please consider deleting the picture of Christ being nailed to the cross that Bishop posted in this space. It does not help me to be a better Christian and it makes me not want to come to this; i...

What it means is I am not living to please God by a set of "do's" and "don't". There are those, but they are not there for me to do to be accepted, but because I am accepted I can now be like Him and know Him more and more--personally--as I walk i...

The short definition of a Christian is a "recovering sinner." The purpose of this group is to explore practical theology; i.e., how does Christian theology help me in my day-to-day living and goal to be more Christ-like!

Yep, I agree. But they are being used more as gimmicks to get people into the building. Takes up valuable space for class rooms, libraries, etc. I don't mind buying a text book for a class from my teacher however. They usually get a quantity disco...

Churches shouldn't have bookstores, coffee shops, etc because the church is about Christ and the Gospel not about making money from books, coffee, etc. The church should have a library where the members can borrow books. If people want to buy book...

I see absolutely no reason why Christian authors and artist shouldn't be paid for their work just like anyone else. I really appreciate sacred music, and have learned a tremendous amount from Christian books, so I'd hate to not have those resource...

What Does Revelation 21:8 Teach?

Question: What is the meaning of Revelation 21:8? I read a commentary somewhere that said it does not just refer to unbelievers, as unbelief is only one of the categories of sin mentioned. It said that therefore all liars, etc. go to Hell. I know this can’t be true, as Peter lied, but was saved.

Answer: Let’s look at Revelation 21:8 before commenting: “But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and… Continue

Is It OK to Get Mad at God?

Question: What do you tell a person who is mad at God because He will not give her the kind of job she wants?

Answer: This is a very interesting question. The first thing to consider is whether or not this person is a Christian. If she is not a Christian, then the most appropriate response would be to show Christian love to her by empathizing with her situation and try to take an opportunity to explain why God doesn’t necessarily grant every desire we have. The unbeliever will nev… Continue

Does God Want Us to Avoid Certain Career Choices?

Question: Are there certain ‘jobs’ or ‘careers’ that God doesn’t want us involved in because for some reason they may lead others astray from Him or us as well?

Answer: Well clearly there would be jobs that are off limits due to the fact that they are inherently sinful, such as prostitution or drug dealing. Anything that is patently illegal or immoral would be good candidates for jobs that God wouldn’t want us doing.

How about certain professions that some mig… Continue

Why Did God Create Adam & Eve Knowing They Would Sin?

Question: Did God know that Adam and Eve were going to sin? If He did then why did He create them?

Answer: This is a two-part question, so let’s deal with in two parts. The first question asks “Did God know that Adam and Eve were going to sin?” In order to answer this question, we must know what the Bible teaches about God’s knowledge. Orthodox Christian theology teaches that God is omniscient. This is a word derived from Latin, which literally means “… Continue

Can God Use Sinners to Accomplish His Will?

Question: Exodus 2 records that Moses killed an Egyptian who was beating a Hebrew slave. It also states that he did so “after looking around to make sure no one was watching,” which indicates this was a premeditated act. Pharaoh did issue a death sentence against Moses, which caused him to flee Egypt; but apart from that, why did God not punish Moses more severely for such an act? After all, isn’t murder still murder? And, despite such an act, God still chose to use Moses in a m… Continue

Hi Carl -

Yes, Belgium is a socialist nation, so some things are quite different. Still, I don't know how all the in's and out's of health care. I know that you pay for health care through your taxes. So you can only get health care if you work and pay taxes. I don't know what non-workers do. And because health care comes through your taxes, taxes are extremely high here, even up to almost 50% for some. Taxes also go to support the Roman Catholic church, since it is the state church and priests are seen as state workers.

With practicalities, you pay all of your health bills up front over here, and then your mutual (health care service) pays back 75% through a bank transfer. That usually takes about 4 weeks to be reimbursed.

Sorry if it sounds like I'm attacking: I often forget there's people behind propositions and I attack propositions almost callously.
