the usual interpretation of all the OT 'appearances' of God in a physical form, is that they were appearances of the pre-incarnate Christ .... Sounds good to me.

Char Yes, I agree, I have seen this too and it worries me. But .... I have also seen the other .... those who rigidly expound their own interpretation of the Bible .... it has to be true because there it is in black and white ..... and they will...

Tell us about yourself
I have been a Christian all my life, after raising my 2 children, at last I could indulge my passion for theology. I love reading Christian books and talking about God, exploring our relationship with Him and each other.
How would you describe yourself theologically?
I don't like labels .... but agree with many of the tenet of Calvinism .... but always allowing for the mystery of God.

I had the most awful dilemma choosing just one theologian ... so settled for the one who influenced my early Christian thought.
Who is the greatest theologian in the last 2000 years? (Besides Biblical People!)
C.S.Lewis

Yes!! "Celebration of Discipline" was a life changing book for me. I haven't read muc else by Richard Foster, but what I have read I deeply value. F.F. Bruce is another of my favorite commentators, so am eager to check out the website you suggested, thank you for that.

Another on the subject of women is "What Paul Really Said About Women" by John Templeton Bristow. I found his style engaging, humble, honest and thought provoking.

Have you heard of Ray Stedman or Luis Palau? Excellent authors!

Thank you for the website, am off and away to investigate, grace and peace to you sister.

Have enjoyed your comments, too, you bring in a perspective I might have missed; helps to keep the exchange rich and full. Walt Kaiser is still alive; he was the president of Gordon-Conwell Theological seminary and edited the recent Archeological Study Bible.

Right now my thinking is really being affected by Frank Viola's writings, but there is this: so long as someone is still alive, I quote with caution. Ya never know if they're going to go off the deep end!!
