What Are You Focusing On In Your Studies?

I have been making a more concerted effort at daily Bible study of late, after not being as consistent as I would have liked for a while. I have been using Prof. Grant Horner's Bible reading plan, wh…

Manhattan Declaration

I have been making a more concerted effort at Bible study of late. I have been using Prof. Grant Horner's Bible reading plan, which has you reading 10 chapters a day. But after using it a while, I don't think it's conducive to reflective study of th…

I believe this declaration is cut from the same cloth as Evangelicals and Catholics Together (ECT). Unfortunately, a number of solid evangelicals who inveighed against ECT have signed the MD and have encouraged others to do so. FWIW, here is my blo…

Jason, I just reread your comment and I agree that there is not a lot of difference between the KJV and the other conservative literal translations (NKJV, NASB and ESV) other than some archaic language (which the NASB retained somewhat in earlier e…

I did not grow up on the KJV. But I agree that from the KJVO or KJV preferred standpoint there's not a whole lot of difference between the NKJV, NASB and ESV, although I'd hope that those who do not hold to the heretical view that the KJV is itself…

With the PCA, it is going to depend on the particular Presbytery examining you. That is why you have heard differing reports. (And that's not just on this issue but on many others that could be named, like theonomy, the Federal Vision, etc.) With so…

It depends on what you mean by covenantal. If you mean by covenantal the idea that children of believers are in covenant with God then no, one can't be covenantal and Baptist in that sense, because if the children of believers are in covenant with…

My reference to "half way" was a reference to the half way problems of paedobaptists, not baptists. Specifically the "Half-Way Covenant" in Puritan New England. (Time doesn't permit me to recount it in detail, but Google is your friend :) .) It is a…

Anselm, If part of your issue is the tendency for evangelical churches (as well as non evangelical) to exclude children from worship services and put them in "children's church" then I agree that that practice is unhelpful to say the least. But the…

I once saw the statement that went like this--"The purpose of having an open mind is for it to eventually shut (or close) on something." I can't remember the source for sure, but I think it may have been Joseph Sobran. If "completely open minded pe…

Profile Information

Tell us about yourself
Raised Methodist and was a blasphemer who denied the deity of Christ by my early 20's. I was converted in my later 20's and in my sojourn have been in Wesleyan, Independent Sovereign Grace (not the Mahaney/Harris organization), Presbyterian (OPC) and Southern Baptist churches and am now happily attending an independent Bible church.
How would you describe yourself theologically?
Paleoevangelical, Calvinistic, baptistic and premillennial (leaning toward Dispensationalism). Not a fundamentalist in that I am not a member of a fundy church and not part of a movement but I am more inclined to be separatistic when it comes to doctrinal error than the average evangelical.
Who is the greatest theologian in the last 2000 years? (Besides Biblical People!)
hard to say, but I'll go with John Calvin for now
