Tim, if I understand you, your reading of 1 Peter 3:21 is that baptism now saves us (from God's temporal wrath) as the appeal of a good conscience (for having done what He asked us), not as the removal of (quote unquote) dirt from the body by the re…

How can we "participate" in His body and blood (1 Corinthians 10:16) if said body and blood aren't really present?

For clarification: Because I'm honest enough to admit that the shoe would probably be on the other foot, so to speak. The important thing is that salvation must be understood as God's work from beginning to end. Faith is a desire for and dependence…

John, am I confused, or is your position that it's wrong to eat blood, but it's ok to pretend to eat blood? Doesn't that seem contradictory? 1 Corinthians 10:16 seems to make a pretty strong case, IMO: "The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not…

O come, O come, Thou Lord of might, Who to Thy tribes on Sinai's height
In ancient times didst give the Law In cloud and majesty and awe.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel Shall come to thee, O Israel!

"With righteousness he shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth; and he shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he shall kill the wicked. Righteousness shall be the belt of his waist, and faithfulness the belt of his loins. (Isaiah 11:4-5)" "For the Lord is our judge; the Lord is our lawgiver; the Lord is our king; he will save us. O come, Thou Key of David, come, And open wide our heav'nly home;
Make safe the way that leads on high, And close the path to misery.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel Shall come to you, O Israel!

"I will place on his shoulder the key of the house of David. He shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open. (Isaiah 22:22)" "Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore.
