Leave it to me to semi-derail a thread. Good job, buddy.

I'll concede that it was too simplistic of a description (although I thought I caveated it well with "The result (and where the crux of the argument lies) is in justification not being by faith alone, but by active faithfulness as the means for ju...

Not that I'm disagreeing Wright may be influential, but the point I was making is that I don't think this can be reduced to the swallowing of his view wholesale, as I said. You admit this when you say it is the "result of several streams flowing i...

The FV is the result of several streams flowing into it, including the NPP. We're it not for the reconstruction of the view of 2nd-temple Judaism, which Tom Wright is mediating, then the FV probably wouldn't have come about but it's also the resul...

Well while there may be some influence, I don't think it is correct to say that FV is the Reformed result of Wright's work, as Ray did. This suggests they have lifted their views directly from his work wholesale. If that were the case, FV would lo...

Jason, Actually many of the FV writers either are theonomic/reconstructionist or have been influenced by those movements. The link are actually quite strong. It's true that not all theonomists are FV (in fact some theonomists are quite opposed to...

This is not what the leaders of the FV have said. They've testified repeatedly to the influence of the NPP(s) on their views of covenant, justification, and the sacraments. The FV isn't identical to the NPP(s) but they are integrally related. You...

Barrett, It was (and remains) a major issue. It was big enough to require multiple N. American denominations for form study committees and to adopt or receive reports and overtures against it. It generated several books. I was involved in two of ...

Oh that reminds me, have you read the Bruised Reed yet?

Good call. Char tells me nothing except that I am wrong and that I should read the Bruised Reed.

Hi Jason

I just wanted to stop by and again apologize for the dust-up on the abortion topic. Emergents in general and Jim Wallis in particular just make my teeth hurt. I am very politically motivated and sometimes as in your case I over reacted, also known as putting ones foot in ones mouth.

I saw on here where you are headed to Korea. Take your battery powered long-johns. I’m a retired MSgt with 24 years’ service and the coldest I have ever been in my life was in Korea serving there in 63-64 at Osan AFB and Cheju-Do.

Korea was a pretty desolate place when I was there just 10 years after the war. The pictures I see of Seoul today make it look like a pretty metropolitan city; I wonder how the rest of the country is fairing? I hope you will keep in touch here as I would really be interested how things are there now.

Best wishes for a good tour.

Gotcha. I do hope it goes well—I've had a few friends in the Army who have had pretty decent experiences, and it seems like you'll be out of the direct line of fire, as it were... My cousin was in Basra and Baghdad both for awhile, and while he came out just fine, I think the whole situation was pretty tense.

Nice. At least you can get something chores-related done. Are you ready for Korea?

Or maybe, "I'm bored at work."

That was something along the lines of, "Hey, how's it going?"
