Tell us about yourself
hmmm, I like christian rap!

I was raised Baptist but became heavily influenced by Pentecostalism/Charismaticism in my highschool and early college years. Around my sophmore year in college was when I started getting into alot of arguments/discussions with my friends on such issues like the sabbath, the Trinity, Baptism, once saved always saved....ect. These talks eventually led me to the Early Church Fathers for some of my friends who were Seventhday Adventists and Oneness Pentecostals would bring up church history when our talks over scripture didn't go anywhere. And I've been reading them eversince. I became Eastern Orthodox the day before Pascha of 2007. It was hard to remain Protestant when I embraced a high view of the Sacraments(mysteries). I tried the Episcopal church for awhile, but left after my Episcopal influences started to crumble. It was hard for me to partake of communion in orther protestant churches. MY conscience wouldn't allow it. So I went east. I tried to become Orthodox back when I first started reading the church fathers back in 1997/1998, but the church I called never returned my phone call........to be honest, I can't remember if I joined the same parish I called many years ago. But I am happy to have waited the many years......for I have learned alot about human frailty.........and I think everything happens for a reason.
How would you describe yourself theologically?
Eastern Orthodox
Who is the greatest theologian in the last 2000 years? (Besides Biblical People!)

A little bit more about myself (since I am a newb here)

This came from the Holy Culture Radio forum (A christian rap website, dominated by mostly Calvinists and Reformed protestants). Some wanted to know how I became a history buff, and one person in particular compared me to Alexander Cambell(A 19nth century restorationist) who was one of the co-founders of the churches of christ. He made that comparison to show that just because you are into history doesn't mean y… Continue

The meaning behind 888 in my name

In Greek, the name of Jesus is "ΙΗΕΟΥΕ"

Ι(ιοτα, iota) = 10

H(eta) = 8

E(sigma) = 200

O(omicron) = 70

Y(upsilon) = 400

E(sigma) = 200

When one adds the Number of "IHEOYE" it equals to: 888 (Eight Hundred EightyEight)

And now you know why I have triple 8's after my name.

Α = 1
Β = 2
Γ = 3
Δ = 4
Ε = 5
ζ = 6
Ζ = 7
Η = 8
Θ = 9
Ι = 10
Κ = 20
Λ = 30
Μ = 40
Ν = 50
Ξ = 60
Ο = 70
Π = 80
φ = 90
Ρ = 100
Σ = 200
Τ = 300
Υ = 400
Φ = 500
Χ = 600
Ψ = 700
Ω = 800

Also the number 8 symbolized the 8t… Continue

Early Christian Worship by Justin Martyr

Justin Martyr describes what it was like. (around 150 A.D.)

The Website:

QUOTE:
"CHAP. LXVII.--WEEKLY WORSHIP OF THE CHRISTIANS.

And we afterwards continually remind each other of these things. And the wealthy among us help the needy; and we always keep together; and for all things wherewith we are supplied, we bless the Maker of all through His Son Jesus Christ, and through the Holy Ghost. And o… Continue

The first converts of the Apostles & Leadership

Saint Clement who lived around 70A.D.-90 A.D. said something very interesting in his letter to the Corintians about the first fruits of the Apostles. In Chapter fourty two he said:

QUOTE:
CHAPTER 42

"The Apostles received for us the gospel from our Lord Jesus Christ; our Lord Jesus Christ received it from God. Christ, therefore, was sent out from God, and the Apostles from Christ; and both t… Continue

St. Moses' life really encourages me! He was a rough dude and was able to be united to the Trinity through the course of his struggles. This gives me hope :)

Hi Jnorm, I'm trying to figure out what the difference is between Sacred Tradition and tradition. Would you be willing to weigh in on that discussion in the forum?
