Life Updates

This month has been crazy, but as always, ordained by God: First, on the 2nd (Wednesday), a deacon informed me that the church's back-flow regulator was stolen. Under normal circumstances, having it fixed by Sunday wouldn't be difficult. However, we planned for a 4th of July BBQ, where having water is essential. Considering I was the one organizing the BBQ, I had a big problem to deal with. The next day, I'm still looking for another place to hold our BBQ, the various deacons were… Continue

Michael, challenges cause us to "Test" our understanding, this is good! You can always expect challenges, when you've stated your position. Scripture is not all that complicated, when one's mind is submitted to the Lord. That stated, we are commanded to continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord.
Rey Renoso starts many discussions with a question. He is "Feeding" the site. Good!
He seldom states his own position and occassionally plays "the devil's advocate.
He may agree with you, but still challenges,
causing us to think. There are, no doubt "watchers", not in the discussion, trying to decide what is the truth.

Michael, I loved your description of sovereignty! I think that all correct understanding of scripture is based upon a proper recognition of God's Sovereignty.
All of creation is God-centered, but men try to make it Man-centered, so man, rather than God, gets the glory. Love to you, brother. Jack

I wish I was a good photographer. These were taken by a teenage friend of ours who is aspiring to be a photographer. My wife invited him over last month to get some shots of the boys for my "father's day" gift. Thanks for the comment :)

Thanks, Michael. Oh my, you were up late! In particular I am looking for the "why" of the Nazarite vow not not to cut their hair. (I'm doing a lesson on Sampson at camp.) Did the Philistines wear shaved heads, or something? I've seen pictures of the Egyptians shaved, and am making that assumption. BUT I do not want to teach an assumption:-) I'll be gone all day. Thanks again, Jean

It was very different from what i expected. NY is so fast pace, a lot of the people are rude, and there are some filthy places...on the other hand, Broadway is amazing, my pastor friend and his family are truly living to reach out, the Brooklyn Tabernacle had a great service, i love the subway, lilians pizza is yum, and i got to hang out with the best classical guitarist i know staying up till 2 am.

how was san leandro?

Hi Michael. Thanks for the invite! This is a "first" for me -- I've never blogged (!) But I have been looking for some info and thought you, or someone out there might be able to help. Where can I find info on customs of the Philistines???? Thanks, Jean
P.S. I hope I can find my way back here
