I hear you; and yet even that has directly to do with the upcoming debate. How people understand doctrine, where they get their understanding from, and what they consider to be authoratative is equally as important. Appreciated you and Seth explo...

"Nothing Could Be Further From the Truth" . . . And Other Studpid Statements

As I have been reading and reviewing books and blogs over the years, my approach has changed. This was not an overnight change, but something that just happened the more involved I became in engaging those who were serious about teaching and learning with intellectual honesty and integrity (something that, I am sad to say, does not often characterize Christian leaders and teachers). There are certain characteristics that I have found in people’s teaching that immediately alert me to the realizat… Continue

A recent article at USA Today asks a questions in an article called "Fightin' Words":

"Is the Bible the literal word of God, or a historical compilation written by different people in different situations over a period of years? This question has provoked some soul-searching about the very foundation upon which the Christian faith is based."

This is a rather ill-informed question that completely misunderstands the traditio… Continue

Top Ten Christian Events of the Year

From the Christian Post

1. Ted Haggard Speaks on Scandal for First Time

Two years after Ted Haggard stepped down from the top post at the National Association of Evangelicals amid a sex and drug scandal, the former evangelical leader spoke of his past struggles openly for the first time at a small church in Morrison, Ill. There, he revealed that a man sexually abused him as a child and that his dark past came back to haunt him in his adult life.

Evangelical "going Green"?

The latest Barna survey was published last night. Its intent was to evaluate the Evangelical position concerning the environment. You can find it here.

One paragraph in particular caught my attention:

"Most Christians are not satisfied to be mere observers of the green movement. Three-quarters of self-identified Christians (78%) agree they would like to see their fellow Christians take a more a… Continue

Michael,
I received an email and also find on My Page that somebody left me a comment on my profile 4 hours ago. But my question is--How do I find this comment? It doesn't appear to be on my comment wall. When I click on "comment" in the notification, it takes me to the forum page. Am I missing something?

Hey Michael!! Did Oklahoma make it into the final four??

I need to get back into the theology courses when time allows...great program. Well, until then I'll have fun reading all the great theological discourse here and add my 2 cents worth:)
Ok, it's back to writing papers on computer ethics for me--only a couple courses left to finish this undergraduate degree.

Hey, Michael!
Enjoyed your latest blog post. I see you met my friend, Seth. He found my blog a couple months ago when I posted an article on Mormonism. He makes me want to bang my head against a wall.

This site could use some Lutheran sites, I would recommend the following: The Book of Concord - http://dev.bookofconcord.org/ and Lutheran Theology Web Site - http://www.angelfire.com/ny4/djw/lutherantheology.html

Hello Michael

A very stange thing happened to me today. Well actually to tell you the truth it actually happened to me yesterday, but I was informed in my inbox on 21 October that you had invited me to become your friend on Theologica as far back as 17 August and I was ashamed to discover I had not responded.

How terribly rude and unBritish of me! Either you are a very thoughtful bloke or a desperately man lonely scraping the bottom of the barrel when you suddenly thought “I know…Britphil!!” I’m sure it is the former rather than the latter!

Hope you manage to emerge relatively unscathed from your brush with the “Michael’s a smokin’ and drinkin’ irresponsible mischief maker” fraternity. I’m sure you are broad shouldered enough to take it. From my perspective, I’d be asking for a tape of your conversations with this engaging dude so I could listen and learn …I’m sure it would be fascinating!

I’m off shortly to put my emergers hat on as part of a “Mission Shaped Intro” Course we are running at our church between now and Christmas. It is looking at fresh and new ways of being church in today’s contemporary culture and is run by the more sensible wing of the emerging church (a combination of Anglican and Methodist…you can’t get more sensible than that if you tried!)

Tonight is week 2 and I am co-leading the next session, which should be interesting to say the least! Although the hot topic of discussion tonight will be the news that broke yesterday that Steven Croft (a great bloke who was heading up the Fresh Expressions work from the Anglican side of things) has just been appointed the new Bishop of Sheffield.

Hope OU are doing well! My own soccer team, who are a small outfit in one of the less prestigious British soccer leagues were thrashed 6-1 last night by a mid-table team so it’s all doom and gloom on the sporting front today I am afraid. It is the second time we have conceded 6 goals since the season started in late August.

Have a good day in Oklahoma City.

Hello Brother Michael!

I've been keeping up with your "doins" on P&P, listening to TUPs, and finally signed up for Theologica...(I saw "Live Chat" and like doing that). Anyways, one of these Aions I'll get my barebones resurrected and get with you folks in Paltalk/Connection Gate.

You're still my: World's Favorite Calvinist.

Till when: God bless you & yours, Michael
