Josh, Is there a reason you want a 17" screen? General rule is the bigger the screen the shorter the battery power. Of course there are more variants that come into play with that rule, but it is generally safe to go by. The best way to make a p...

back to Jeremiah for a minute here. His descriptions of God's messages to him always seem a little rough. Again, he wished that he had died before his heart relationship with God began. Was he just saying that for effect? One of the jarring juxta...

The right? I don't know, but I know he cannot lie, so yeah, I guess you could say he does not have the right to lie. Or to change. Those are things he said he does not do. He does not have the right to be unjust. He is the Rock, his works are perf...

David; You mentioned the people who object to the idea (doctrine) that God planned or created the future, because that would make God "responsible for sin." This "responsibility" suggests that God must answer to some higher law or higher God, or w...

Joanne, I never thought about it that way. At all that way. I think you make a powerfully valid point. Perhaps it is just sometimes so easy for some of us to be quick to let our sharp edges show, and cut to the quick that which we find distatsef...

Michael, or anyone, Can you point me to any articles that deal with the concept of God having and loosening the restraints on evil . thanks -- Hans

Yes, I think God creates the future, but in the group I mentioned, some felt that made God responsible for sin.

David, Do you think the reason for this is because of the implications of agreeing that God creates the future? I think of prophecy. I don't think it is as much God's reaction, but rather His intention. Prophecy is what God is saying He is going...

Tell us about yourself
My name is Michael, and I struggle. I suppose it is just what I am best at; testing what is placed in front of me and questioning every idea handed down to me. I guess this is why I have so many scars.

I have enough scars to trace a road map from here to oblivion. I used to hate these scars, I used to love these scars, I use to hide behind these scars, and I used to use these scars as my identity. Now I simply wear them; they are mine, they each tell a story, and they each have taught me so much about Hope, Faith, and Love.

By my own stupidity, and by the stupidity of others, I find myself here; now. Older, maybe a little wiser, a little stronger, but ultimately sweetly broken at the feet of Christ, Jesus; given and surrendered.

It is here where I find the man that I am to be: friend, lover, husband, father. A student and a teacher. A man that cares about others. A man who is known by his Love.

but…

But I am not always that man. Most of the time I am not that man. So I do what I do best; I struggle. I struggle until I realize that I alone cannot win this fight. I struggle until I am broken all over again. It is then that I do what I have should have done from the beginning: give the battle to the Lord.

And He teaches me. He strengthens me. He takes me through the fire. He transforms me. And with a Love that only God can give, He Loves me despite -perhaps in spite- of my ever eternal insufficiency.

It is there in that place when I realize what I want to do most with my life. I desire simply to point the world to Christ. No matter how injured, how wounded, how broken I may be, I just always want to point the world to Christ, and to follow where ever He leads me.
How would you describe yourself theologically?
Simply; I'm a member of the Southern Baptist Convention with strong Reformed leanings. I agree with 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith and the Baptist Faith and Message.
Who is the greatest theologian in the last 2000 years? (Besides Biblical People!)
I don't know if you'd consider him a theologian, but Spurgeon is my kind of guy.

"Follow Me"

As Jesus passed on from there, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax booth, and he said to him, "Follow me." And he rose and followed him. ~Matthew 9:9

Do you suppose that Matthew had a choice? Do you think that he could have looked at Jesus, our mighty God-Man who had bound the… Continue

What the Lord Has Seen Me Safely Through...

"I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and exult in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High." ~Psalm 9:1-2

I can't help but to stand staggered in awe of the LORD. The more I've learned, and the more I learn, about what I survived I can't help but to realize that truly i… Continue

Why I've Lamented for so Long: my father and Calvary Chapel Hanford...

"For though you have countless guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers..."
~1 Corinthians 4:15

To my earthly father, I have been proclaimed dead. That to him we will meet and speak again only at the time of our passing into physical death. I have understood for years -before even my conversion- that my father was absent from the life of his family. I have been given no… Continue

I've Failed...But Grace

Everyday I have the opportunity to live the right way. I am no longer in bondage to sin. I am no longer a slave to sin. So everyday I have the opportunity to live out the day in such a way that every moment honors Him. And everyday...I fail.

At the end of the day as I reflect upon the events that have transpired I find myself crying out fearfully; "Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from the body of this death?" There have been many nights, especially over the… Continue

Michael; Rev 3:10 supports, I believe, the pre-trib view.
Also, in 2 thess: Paul is comforting believers, by showing that they will not have to go through the "Day of the Lord." It would have been no comfort to them, if he was saying: "you are not in the DOL now, but you will have to experience it, later. And if DOL referred to the kingdom, they would have been rejoicing, rather than fretting.
