First of all the Church is for believers, it is where believers are fed the Word in preaching, hearing the Word, in teaching hymns, in the Sacraments and in it's doctrine which must be pure and founded in the Word of God. We are the church when ou...

I am wondering if the phrase was said another way if it would have been met with the same response. For example: "If you are going to call yourself the church, then act like it!" How should the church "act?" In concept isn't acting and being sim...

Holly, I am not denying that people have bad experiences. What I am wondering is why the institutional church is to blame for people having bad experiences. Is it really the system? I just don't see the evidence. And I don't see how a different mo...

The two aren't mutually exclusive. But then, neither is there a one to one relationship between them either and those in institutional churches tend to minimize that.

Sure, not the same thing a tall. "Proclaim it, he acts directly..." Will have to ponder that 'un. "Raise the ire of the flesh..." Oooh, I like that. Maybe T-shirt material.

I did say they could both be done at once. God works, but not in the same way. Teaching is much less direct. We teach his word and it can affect us or not. When we proclaim it, he acts directly, reaching out of it to turn men's hearts and/or make...

Nine Self-examining questions before posting in a blog or forum.

When Making Blog or Forum Posts, these questions from Steve Camp give one a hopeful pause before putting thoughts to words.

1. How does my post glorify God and exalt Christ? Or am I seeking to only expand my daily readership by addressing controversial issues just for controversy's sake? (1 Cor. 10:31)

2. How does it equip the body of Christ biblically to be better Bereans on any issue they face? (Acts 17:11)

3. How does it convict and challenge me in my own life before I turn its truths on a… Continue

Christmas Basket Project Ecuador 2008

Being on full-time Missions in the heart of the Ecuadorian Cloud Forest has helped us redefine what is important. This past Christmas, many families received a basket of much needed items. Many here hope the holidays pass quickly because they are reminded of what they don't have. Delivering these baskets and ministering to poor families needs has been a blessing for us. Pray that those who have been touched would continue to seek God in 2009 and that we would have the opportunity to follow up wi… Continue

Vowel Movements

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOH ! AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH ! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEH!

Do you know what God is doing now? Aren’t you going to be a part of it? Of course it’s a little difficult to understand. You have to be REALLY spiritual. Thousands of people are going in that direction. When God moves, you have to find out where He is going and hopefully get caught up in the wave. If you don’t, you are going to miss out on something really special. Look, there are always going to be those who are left behind because they… Continue

Thanks Miguel, I've enjoyed reading your posts, when you join the conversation, and appreciated your blog about the honoring of God in blog posts. Praising and thanking God for your willingness to answer His call to the Rain Forest!

Hi Miguel,

Thanks for the friend request. I am looking forward to hearing more about your work. I have read about the missionaries of the more distant as well as recent past (David Brainerd, Bruchko, and of course, Jim Elliot) and always find their lives inspiring. I will be in prayer for you in your labors.

Any artists among your ranks? As an artist and person who is in a battle to reclaim the creative arts for Christ, I always have to ask. :)

Blessings to you and yours,

Holly

So I decided to do my missionary biography report on Hudson Taylor. Just picked up his bio today entitled Hudson Taylor's Spiritual Secret. Thanks for the suggestions.

You know Henry Krabendam? He comes and preaches at my church every now and then. He was kind enough to join my church on our mission to Bhutan last February (on his way home from Uganda) :) That man is amazing. He gets around, and knows everyone.

Really nice bike, Miguel. You should post some pictures of it here.

A good friend just bought an '09 Softtail Classic Deluxe - the "deluxe" cracks me up, like it's a good cheeseburger or something - and it is a beautiful bike, too.

Sadly, I'm destined to ride my '06 Vulcan Classic 1600. I could have paid more, of course, and gotten a Harley. But I wouldn't have had a better bike.
