Good article. Shared it on facebook. A great reminder that, among other things, one's actions betray one's true beliefs, whether Atheist or Christian.

First, no one said Paul was contradicting himself. It would help this discussion to remain true to what each is communicating, including of Paul. Secondly, Paul did not say that to pray in the spirit is fruitless. You are imposing a meaning onto t...

Derek did a remarkable job refuting your last statement and I would like to encourage you not to add or take away from the text in refuting your second statement. Paul said, " Now I wish that you all spoke in tongues, but even more that you would ...

39 Therefore, my brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak in tongues. 1 Co 14:39 John- I would love to hear your argument in support of the cessation of tongues. Dr. Norman Geisler and I discussed this issue at length se...

17 And Jesus said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. Mt 16:17. Jesus is contrasting two mediums- the natural and the supernatural. "Flesh and blood" being t...

I agree that special revelation has been given to us in the form of our Scriptures, but you asked "How did Jesus' Father reveal the truth to him?" the referrent being Peter. You didn't ask how we (you and I) may know how to be saved. And according...

Of course. We can know about the supernatural, but we cannot know fully the how of God in salvation. Everything we understand of God is by analogy and analogy as you know eventually breaks down somewhere. Even to say that God is love is analogous ...

You are asking the how of a supernatural revelation? Really? Is it necessary for us to know the how, or is it necessary for us to know the what? Isn't the "how" for Him to know? Surely you do not presume that a natural mind of man can comprehend t...

Tell us about your family. Have you completed your move. I don't mean un-packing. That will take 2 years!

Nancy; I don't see you responding, lately, to any posts. Or is it that I don't notice your avatar, without a name?

Thanks for caring! I'm doing well, for a geezer, that is. In the last 2 months, I've read about 6 books on creation apologetics. And one on "ultimate authority". "The Ultimate Proof of Creation" by Lisle.

Thanks for the welcome, Nancy.
I don't know how much I can discuss here, but I have enjoyed reading.
I hope to blog occasionally. Perhaps I can enter into a little discussion.
The atonement discussion certainly was interesting to read.

Nancy; I've only read J Adam's book "competent to counsel", was impressed with it, and have been wary of counselors, ever since. I believe that the book
"Christian Psychology's war on God's word" is probable in full harmony with J. Adams. Jack

Hi Nancy! How was your weekend?

Profile Information

Tell us about yourself
I love conversing with and reading publications by atheists. When I look past the personal attacks on my faith and my intellect, I learn more about how to reach them.
How would you describe yourself theologically?
I would decribe myself as a very grateful saved sinner, hungry to learn more of God's Word. I'm a seminary student studying apologetics and philosophy under Dr. Norman Geisler. The more I know, the more I don't know.
Who is the greatest theologian in the last 2000 years? (Besides Biblical People!)
Dr. Norman Geisler

Faith versus Reason

After reading W.K. Clifford’s essay “The Ethics of Belief” and William James’s essay “The Will to Believe” I have been given the task of answering the following questions: 1) Is it always wrong to believe something for which one lacks sufficient evidence? And 2) Is “faith” inconsistent with critical thinking?

The first problem that arises out of these inquiries is the question of what is “sufficient” or what determines “sufficient evidence”? I would have to assert that determination of sufficie… Continue

God seems so distant these days...

When I was a little girl, I loved to go to church. I felt safe there. Everything seemed better at church. Food tasted better, colors were brighter, music came alive and the world made sense. When I played the piano at church, it seemed I could hit any key and it would be bea… Continue

Nancy Unplugged

Over the course of my walk with Christ, He has allowed me the privilege to serve Him in many avenues. My favorite would be discipling and ministering to His people and reaching out to unbelievers. But sometimes I get tired. I am not superhuman, I am not callus. I have suffered in life and in doing so have acquired an ability to share the pain of others. Compassion can only be learned thro… Continue

Interview with a witch

One of the blessings along my journey of studying world religions has been meeting the people who practice them. Following is a transcript of an interview with a very gracious witch who practices hoodoo.
