UH, I think you're gonna have to explain that comment.

That's an excellent point.

Dr. Mike, I'm not a dispensationalist, by conventional protestant definitions, and this is probably going to discredit you argument here, but I would tend to agree with you idea of how God deals with individuals and their salvation.

Damian, Sorry for the delay, I have a bunch a family coming in and the warden has me on work detail. I'll try to get a good response soon.

I declare that declarations usually don't mean a hill of beans.

Ser, There are Roman Catholics, Baptists, Lutherans, Presbyterian, Anglicans, Pentecostal Oneness,Latter Day Saints, etc. How am I different? I am just here to converse.

Wow...ok brother I don't really see us getting anywhere now. I love you man, forgive me where I have offended you.

Ser, You found one quote out of thousands, that is most likely a bad translation to make a point that you know is false. As best I can tell you were trying to say that the Orthodox Church has no distinction between veneration and worship and used ...

How would you describe yourself theologically?
Eastern Orthodox
Who is the greatest theologian in the last 2000 years? (Besides Biblical People!)
Well since the rule changed, I'd say any of the Church Fathers especially those who fought heresies at the Ecumenical Councils.

The Church and Starbucks

My wife and I are long-time faithful clients of Starbucks and my wife actually recently became employed there. My favorite thing about Starbucks is the consistency of their quality. When my wife became employed there it became a lot more evident as to why their quality was so high. They are adamant about it. As a matter of fact, in a highly publicized move earlier this year, they shut all of their stores down one evening just to train their employees on quality standards. One of these standards… Continue

Where did the Communion Table Go?

I will admit as a protestant evangelical, one thing I could never nail down was, "How important is communion and how often do we observe it?". Heck, I wasn't even sure if I was supposed to call it communion. I was admonished once that it was "the Lord's Supper" because we didn't believe it to be actual Body and Blood of Christ. Through the later years of my Protestant life as I followed mainline conservative evangelicalism, I drifted further and further from tradition. I had rememebered a time w… Continue

I really enjoyed your comments today, and am thankful you are staying in the conversation. I am not emotionally invested in one particular theory over and above another; in fact, I am convinced that these are all different aspects of the same complex, profound movement of God. I am also convinced that as we thinkin together, and allow the Lord to move our thoughts closer to illumination, we are going to find delight in some of the most unepxpected places, and people.

Grace and peace to you brother

Tell me, ots, when you and I can't get along here, who's at fault? Which one of us is unsaved? I am quite comfortable in saying that while I have questioned some of your practices and commitments, I have never questioned your Salvation (perhaps you confuse your practices with your Salvation? I don't). I cannot say the same for you. What, in Christian love, should I take from that Icon you posted of me on the rapture thread? "It's just a joke, lighten up"? How about, your feelings are hurt and you did something mean-spirited? You don't even believe in the Rapture of the OP. Why did you post on it? To insult me?

My point on the the Ecumenism thread still stands: you have a lot of freedom to question others membership in the Body of Christ. Yet should somebody touch on one of your beliefs, you get all sanctimonious about other people "judging" you. Perhaps the merciful God you wish to pretend I don't know about has shown me mercy and like it or not I will never have any official "ecumenical" relationship with the EO Denomination this side of heaven (except in heaven there will be no denominations). In the marketplace, I have had fellowship with individual believers from many denominations. I feel no need to jettison my beliefs, accept all yours so that you can find comfort in structural unity.

I think that you should comtinue to post here. It is good to get an Orthodox view, just as it is to have a Lutheran view. Actually, we are not that far apart, we both have a high view of the liturgy and the Sacraments and in Holy Communion, we both believe that we receive Christ' very Body and Blood in the bread and wine.

Just want you to know that I have learned a lot from you in the last couple of days, and I am thanking God for you. I've been reading in the other discussions, but am not educated enough to enter into them. Still, wanted you to know how impressed I was with your gentle and gracious responses, and for being clear and consistent in your teaching. I really appreciate that.

Tried to send you a note, but it looks like you have that application turned off?

Ots you should join crappy art H8Rs Club and debate the finer points of Christian film with us (okay there will be no debate, we all think it's schlock). Still we can complain together.
