Tell us about yourself
I'm a student at Flagler College, a native Floridian (Go Gators), a proud Southerner, and an avowed Parrotthead. I love drawing pictures of and writing stories about my friends, family, professors, and pastors. I am always in search of balance within Christianity. I dislike the legalism and venom of self-proclaimed fundamentalists as well as the incessant hand-wringing and compromise of theological liberals. I'm a young earth creationist and a post-millenialist, but I'm still open to debate. I drink beer (mostly Yuengling), but not to excess. I watch TV (Simpsons, Seinfeld, King of the Hill, King of Queens, South Park, SNL, 30 Rock, History Channel) and love movies (The Dark Knight, Batman Begins, Luther, The Patriot, Iron Man, My Left Foot, Dumb and Dumber, The Waterboy, Tommy Boy, Amazing Grace, Patton, Gladiator, Casino Royale, Expelled, Scent of a Woman, The Big Lebowski, Original Star Wars Triology, ALL Ernest Movies). I like to fish, swim, and workout. I love food. I am an avid reader. I love politics and history. I love to a debate all of the aforementioned topics.
How would you describe yourself theologically?
Reformed Presbyterian with Lutheran tendencies
Who is the greatest theologian in the last 2000 years? (Besides Biblical People!)
John Calvin

Fruit Without the Root

As a Biblical creationist, I seem to be in the minority. I know of very few issues that Christians will compromise over as much as Creationism. I fear that many professed Christians would rather be ripped asunder by lions than be seen as "scientifically" backward. I would remind my brothers and sisters in Christ to remember Paul's teaching to the Corinthians: "Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?...Fo… Continue

On the Gym and the Gospel

I must confess that I'm a gym rat. I know it may be hard to tell from looking at me because the dedication I have for working out doesn't carry over to my dietary habits; it's not good when you can recite drive-thru menus from memory. Of course, if I work out regularly a… Continue

Theology: What is it Good For?

A chief concern of Christianity in our age (well, in all ages) is theology. We are all too happy to discuss worship, fellowship, and drama but seldom do we discuss the queen of the sciences. I believe there are a variety of reasons people shy away from this most pertinen… Continue

Bumper Stickers: Some Thoughts

I wrote this a few months ago for my facebook profile, enjoy:

I've always found some truth in the quote that claims bumper stickers represent both the highest and lowest aspects of American culture. I cannot recall who said it, and I'm too lazy to open a new tab and Google it, but it rang true while I was running today. I'm training for a 5K, and I want to get down to an A cup for the summer. So, "two birds with one stone", and all that. Downtown St. Augustine does have its fair share of leftie… Continue

Hey Sam,
I hope things are going well for you. Remember that you are loved in Christ and to preach the gospel to yourself every day-for everyday you need it.

Paul again. I just read you blog and I will have to repent of my envy for you having the gifts at such a young age. I wish some of my pastors were as clear headed. B-school must be better for the mind than seminary.
