I think there is a healthy tension to consider. I read Acts and every single person knew they had come to Christ. They weren't left wondering, 'Hmmm, I prayed this prayer, but I'm not sure.' Even those accounts from Luke about those who received t...

I believe Charles Simpson would have reformed leanings. I also believe Sam Storms has reformed leanings, but I am not sure what network he is a part of outside of his own church (though I know he personally maintains relationships with others).

New and Old From the Treasure

A particular title from a blog article I saw today reminded me of these words of Jesus found in the 'kingdom parables' of Matthew 13, as they are known:

51 "Have you understood all these things?" They said to him, "Yes." 52And he said to them, "Therefore every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like a master of a house, who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old." (Matthew 13:51-52)

Jesus had just spent quite a lot of time laying out teaching about… Continue

In The Day of Your Power

One of the most quoted psalms in all of the New Testament is Psalm 110. It's a very important psalm, a messianic psalm at that. The text from the ESV says this:

1 The LORD says to my Lord:
"Sit at my right hand,
until I make your enemies your footstool."

2 The LORD sends forth from Zion
your mighty scepter.
Rule in the midst of your enemies!
3 Your people will offer themselves freely
on the da… Continue

A Discussion

A picture paints a thousand words,
But do they read the words I have written?
Is a smile perceived through a scowl,
Is a tear seen as a broken heart or bliss?
Can those of a far away land
Understand emotions from an unfamiliar fountain.

The writer says, 'What’s the point?'
The painter could not imagine anything less.
The first creative act of man
Was to call unto the animals their name.
Socrates shouts, 'Oration is the answer,'
Leaving the others wondering.

The poet longs just to… Continue

Longings

Amazed, I am, at the bigger picture;
Heart enlivened to feel the flicker.
Our journey’s superior to words on paper;
Deadening the drama never made us greater.
If only you know by parchment and ink,
Tis no satisfaction for longings so deep.
Only drinking from the cup of life’s great treasure,
Can we truly taste delight and unearth truest pleasure.

A Theology of Beer

In the past, I have briefly written my theology of coffee. I truly do love coffee. I don't feel addicted to it, but just really enjoy it, especially a couple of warm cups early in the morning in my office with my Bible open. And Europe has some good coffee.

But I have also wanted to write a theology of beer as well. I must admit, and I am not ashamed to say so, I really enjoy beer. Yes, it is a special activity… Continue

Well I kind of assumed the woman (the one behbeh looks like) that has featured in several photos with you and him and before that with you but pregnant is his mama. Am I wrong? Cause if I am, that's pretty weird man.

I don't see how this is not true, that dispensationalism teaches that the rapture and final coming are two separate events.??? Yes, they teach that they are separate events, but I don't think you have considered why they teach that (or if you have considered, you do not allow in your writings that maybe there are reasons). Rather, you just write as if they for no reason arbitrarily split the same event into two events.

That's okay. I think the thread had run the course of my OP, but I did ask that people not engage the validity question. I (with the whole of theologica readership) understand that you disagree with Dispensationalism (and the other isms affiliated with it). But really, with the things you say about it to try to bolster your system, the Dispensationalism is and is not thread threatens your inerrancy thread faster than my Quirks.

It also seems you were trying to make a point, so it's kinda weird that now you want to back off and say you were "joking". There's nothing wrong with presenting your point of view and you don't have to pretend you were joking.

Rey's gift is hawt.

It's been busy lately, and a lot of the threads I've read but not really commented on—either out of my area of knowledge or interest, or I have nothing new to contribute. I was hoping to comment on your blogposts about the gospel, but work and life have gotten in the way of the important things lately. ;)

Thanks for the comment.
