Mat.25.31-46 Judgment Day

Posted on March 15, 2011 at 10:49am 0 Comments

Mat.25:31-46 is the well known passage of judgment where all nations are gathered before God and He separates them like a shepherd separating his “sheep” from his “goats”.  This passage is traditionally interpreted to affirm God separating believers from unbelievers, separating His children from those who are not His children.  However the actual text of this passage presents conveys a different message, I believe.

Have you noticed that the traditional interpretation of this…

William Barclay - A Convinced Universalist

Posted on March 11, 2011 at 10:00am 5 Comments

I find William Barclay’s take on universalism interesting which he shares in his autobiography A Spiritual Autobiography, pg 65-67. Many find it hard to believe that such a scholar could see it in the New Testament but apparently he did.  Note that his final appeal is basically "Love Wins".

I am a convinced universalist. I believe that in the end all men will be gathered into…

Your Pride Has Cut You Off From The Body Of Christ!

Posted on March 4, 2011 at 9:25am 0 Comments

Your pride has cut you off from the Body of Christ!”  These words echoed truth in my soul, laying bare the hidden motives of my heart!

Several months before receiving this chastisement from the Holy Spirit, I had received Christ as my Savior (been born-again) and was baptized in the Holy Spirit.  Speaking in tongues and entering a new dimension of praise and worship were the primary evidences of this for me.  The event of my salvation and being filled with the Holy Spirit…

Is Faith a Choice?

Started this discussion. Last reply by Sherman Nobles Dec 16, 2010. 12 Replies

Is faith a choice?  As I've pondered this question I've come to believe that faith is not so much something we "choose" as it is something that grows in us, our subconscious.  It comes from the Word…Continue

Profile Information

Tell us a little about yourself
I am a family man, happily married to Chantal, my bride of 22 years. We have 4 children, Caleb 21, Joshua 18, Victoria 10, and Daniel 6. I am a graduate of Regent University with an MA in Missiology, and am the author of "God Is A Divorce' Too!"
How would you describe yourself theologically (ie. what do you believe)?
I am a Christian (Charismatic Evangelical Universalist). I am: Charismatic in that I believe in and have experienced manifestations of the Spirit as in 1 Cor. 12. Evangelical in that I believe one must be born of the Spirit in order to percieve the Kingdom of God. Universalist in that I believe Jesus truly is the savior of all humanity, especially (not only) we who believe in Him now. (And please note that "universalism" is a sub-category of "Christian". I fully affirm and agree with Theologica's statement of what is traditional Christianity, especially the all-sufficiency of the Atonement of Christ.)
Who, outside of Bible characters, is your favorite theologian or pastor of the last 2,000 years.
J. Rodman Williams was my favorite professor in seminary. Other than that I respect theologians from a wide denominational array within the body of Christ.
What is your web-address (NOTE:This is not your email address and should not be spam)?

do you think the parable of  "Lazarus and Abraham and the gulf and the rich man" is Jesus using hyperbole or was he talking about a place and state.  My views (tho' I was raised a methodist) have been shaped by Jehovah's witnesses' understanding.  They believe that the Bible teaches that the unsaved cease to exist, I think.

Thanks Daniel.  When you originally wrote this I responded in a note to you, but thought it would be helpful to respond to you as a comment on my own wall.  So here's my clarification.

I am Charismatic in that I believe in and experience various manifestations of the Spirit including prophecy, tongues, healings, miracles, words of knowledge and wisdom, gift of faith, and interpretaion of tongues.  I am Evangelical in that I believe in the importance of the born again experience and having a personal relationship with Jesus. And I am a Christian Universalist in that I believe that Jesus is the Savior of all humanity in reality, not just in title, that Jesus' sacrifice ultimately effects the salvation of all humanity.  Oh, and I am transdenominational in that I recognize as brothers and value as important all who have faith in Christ regardless of their denominational tag or their theological differences from me.

Sherman,   You are welcome.  I guess my posts should be humble considering the number of times the Good Lord has humbled me - Praise His Holy Name.  As for grace filled I can only say that, once the Lord pokes a hole in, and deflates, ones ego, He'll refill it with grace if we allow it.

I look forward to getting to know you better too.
