How would you describe yourself theologically?
I am mostly Arminian, definitely Theistic Evolutionist, I hold the Bible to be infallible and inerrant (when properly defined).
Who is the greatest theologian in the last 2000 years? (Besides Biblical People!)
Tempted to say C.S. Lewis, but he would deny he was a theologian

Haven't read the book yet, but I'm hoping to read "Why I'm not an Arminianist." Just don't see why someone would be so certain of Calvinism other than tradition.

Vance,

I forgot to mention, surprisingly, most Sumerian puns translate over into Akkadian and Hebrew. That is a result of both languages once being written in the same pictographic style.

Remember the famous Eve-life pun in Hebrew? There is a three-way pun in Sumerian, Eve-life-rib.

Is it possible that Adam's life was taken from him, rather than a rib? Read it that way and see what it says. Interesting. This could be evidence thaqt the original was in Sumerian and the person who first wrote it in Akkadian screwed up the translation.

Blessings.

Vance,

Does a Hebrew chiasm translate into English? Of course it does. I can't imagine structure not translating (except for rhythm and rhyme).

Vance,

Stephen Douglas says there's lots of chiasms in ancient literature. He suggested this book http://farms.byu.edu/publications/bookstore.php?title&id=19

Vance,

No worries. Just a ruptured disc needing immediate attention. Finished up my first week of physical therapy. Docs said they haven't seen someone in a long time come so far so fast in such a short time. (Did you understand that?)

Thanks for the invite, Vance. I haven't yet found time to be very active on Theologica since Mike B. invited me it. But I do look forward to having time to engage in the conversations here. Our blogs seem to end up in fairly tight circles of defined participants, most of whom are in agreement on major issues (except our atheist friends, who are not). Here at Theologica, I have noticed there to be a wider divergence of view points represented in many conversations. That may prove to be invigorating and, perhaps, frustrating at the same time.

Anyway, thanks!

Vance,

Good to see you here. You say in words things that are a mere bundle of tight rubberbands in my head.

Feel free to swing by my own blog and join the fun. I'm just getting started again after a 6-week post-spine surgery recovery period.

Vance, the "comment wall" feature of this site is kind of odd, I agree. Anyone looking at anyone's comment wall is only getting half the conversation at one time!

You are not Arminian.

Ah then I owe you. I learned tons from your post on there! I hate having someone smarter than me posting!

As I recall the Theistic-Evolutionist absolutely trounced the YEC arguments presented on that site and the moderator didn't like that so they shut it down.
