You mean besides the verse you quoted? "But you, Daniel, close up these words and seal the book until the time of the end. Many will dash about, and knowledge will increase." (Daniel 12:4) I guess I'm unclear as to both the question and the direc...

In DANIEL, God or His messenger says to Daniel, "close up the book, Daniel . . ." Are we learning things that Christians did not know 100 , 1000, or 2000 years ago? What are some passages that indicate that that is God's plan?

check earlier discussions "Jesus the Christ:Divine or not?" and "Explaining Trinitarianism:To do or not to do?" mike gabriel also gave some links in his answer. I gave my thoughts in more detail there, too.

everything I'm saying here is second and third-hand info; so you'll have to verifiy if you use it, but: 1) zeus , theo, and deo are all from the same root. 2) in the jewish confession of faith (call to faith) "here O Israel. The Lord your God is o...

I, too, agree with Ratatosk's summary. Further, I'd say that humans have a strong tendency to get off track. God, of course knows this. Jesus said about trying to do God's will perfectly, "With man this is impossible. But with God, all things are ...

Ryan, thanks for bringing this out. Yeah, the Church has been sleepy. I've been sleepy. In Hebrews. there's a verse that says "encourage one another daily, as long as it is called today, so that you will not be ___________ by sin's deceitfulness."...

My way of thinking about that is like a grid/table where the gift element of one's whole is combined with where one is in the heirarchy/ to give a fuller picture of one's place in the church. When my children were small, I read a bit about how dif...

I learned that confession actually means agreeing with. That broadens what we (I) mean when we use the word confession.

INRODUCTIONS

My Bible reference for this is that Barnabas introduced Paul to believers in various places, Barnabas being the recognized member of a group, and Paul being an unknown and under suspicion. I think there are other places where the known one introduces the unknown one or the unknown one produces credentials of some kind.

There is a group that seems to embrace Christian beliefs and Bible truths that is new on the horizon. In Houston it is called Succeed in Life. I was wonderin what honest reason I… Continue

SINCE YOU ASKED

A Member on Theologica.ning.com asked what others thought that Jesus' return was going to be like, based on what they have read in the Bible. Answers were slow at the beginning. I have not read through the answers, and don't really have anything to add to what others have and are saying on that subject.

(oh yes! I did think of something: Jesus said in response to questions ab… Continue

MORE ON COMPLIMENTARIANISM

I thought of some more stories of women in the Bible that can give guidance to what women can do with revelation that God gives and still be in women's roles.

When Mary and Joseph took Jesus to Temple when He was 7 days old (eight?), Anna , who was a longtime widow, who lived under the protection of the Temple, I think, prophesied about Jesus, announcing Him.
That was an important job. I don't see any indication that that was considered against rules or anything.

Tony Evans spoke about the phe… Continue

WE STILL HAVE SOME WAY TO GO

Did I mention that I am studying with a group using Max Lucado's workbook on EPHESIANS. He has some good ideas. One question he asked us to ask ourselves was (something like) "what kind of humor is not acceptable for Christians?" Yeah. I had some good answers.
Like:
Humor that has to do with someone being hurt.
Humor that makes light of sin instead of being concerned about the holiness of God
and the eternal soul of the sinner.
Humor that does not respect others as made in the image of the Glori… Continue

COMPLIMENTARIAN

POST DRAFT

Dear Friends,

I truly believe that God has planned for women to be active in His kingdom in the more nurturing and „invisible“ ways. . . . . . . This is in response to the discussion of Complimentarian vs. Egalitarian theology at theologica.ning. Also my class in Houston (WestburyUMC) is studying Ephesians using Max Lucado’s workbook; and one question was „How can I use my gifts this week for God’s glory?“ . . . . .
I decided I had better get myself on the record with my beliefs on… Continue

Thanks for the note Joan.

I've probably cracked only a small fraction of the books. Most of them belonged to my father and many of them are the sorts you use for research rather than reading. A number of them are actually text books.

All the interest in SK is skyward. This is normally a great time of year for watching lighting storms, sunsets, and stars.

How are you? :)
