When I was a kid, one of the things I'd often see on the bathroom wall was the phrase "Sometimes I sit and think, and sometimes I just sit!". I found that amusing. Another common phrase I heard was "think before you speak". Both of these phrases, I believe, speak to a lot of absence in thinking. It isn't just a lack of thought that causes problems though. It is also bad thought processes.
