INRODUCTIONS

My Bible reference for this is that Barnabas introduced Paul to believers in various places, Barnabas being the recognized member of a group, and Paul being an unknown and under suspicion. I think there are other places where the known one introduces the unknown one or the unknown one produces credentials of some kind. There is a group that seems to embrace Christian beliefs and Bible truths that is new on the horizon. In Houston it is called Succeed in Life. I was wonderin what honest reason I… Continue

SINCE YOU ASKED

FROM MY BLOG "apologia, about Christ's church" at rethinking1776.blogspot.com Saturday, August 1, 2009 SINCE YOU ASKED A Member on Theologica.ning.com asked what others thought that Jesus' return was going to be like, based on what they have read in the Bible. Answers were slow at the beginning. I have not read through the answers, and don't really have anything to add to what others have and are saying on that subject. (oh yes! I did think of something: Jesus said in response to questions ab… Continue

MORE ON COMPLIMENTARIANISM

I thought of some more stories of women in the Bible that can give guidance to what women can do with revelation that God gives and still be in women's roles. When Mary and Joseph took Jesus to Temple when He was 7 days old (eight?), Anna , who was a longtime widow, who lived under the protection of the Temple, I think, prophesied about Jesus, announcing Him. That was an important job. I don't see any indication that that was considered against rules or anything. Tony Evans spoke about the phe… Continue

WE STILL HAVE SOME WAY TO GO

Did I mention that I am studying with a group using Max Lucado's workbook on EPHESIANS. He has some good ideas. One question he asked us to ask ourselves was (something like) "what kind of humor is not acceptable for Christians?" Yeah. I had some good answers. Like: Humor that has to do with someone being hurt. Humor that makes light of sin instead of being concerned about the holiness of God and the eternal soul of the sinner. Humor that does not respect others as made in the image of the Glori… Continue

COMPLIMENTARIAN

POST DRAFT Dear Friends, I truly believe that God has planned for women to be active in His kingdom in the more nurturing and „invisible“ ways. . . . . . . This is in response to the discussion of Complimentarian vs. Egalitarian theology at theologica.ning. Also my class in Houston (WestburyUMC) is studying Ephesians using Max Lucado’s workbook; and one question was „How can I use my gifts this week for God’s glory?“ . . . . . I decided I had better get myself on the record with my beliefs on… Continue

ASKING THE RIGHT QUESTION

As I listened to the panel of Christian experts on the radio recently talking about "Is Christ the only way to God?", my mind went back to Sunday afternoon when some friends and I were visiting with some muslims who were open and interested in talking about spiritual things and some of whom had visited Christian churches. The radio people quoted the words of Jesus (from John 13 or 14?), "Whoever comes to the Father must come through me." The radio experts pulled up the reasoning that whoever doe… Continue
