Peter Enn's new popularly written commentary on Genesis has been released.
For a short time it is available at Amazon (as an ebook) for 1.99.
Just to beat Marv to the punch- though its true that you usually get what you pay for :-), this is an exception.
Comment by Marv on April 24, 2012 at 12:15pm Abnormangelicals. Will that work?
Comment by Daniel on April 25, 2012 at 11:00am There is a review of it over on Jesus Creed. I actually used $20 of Amazon gift cards to get this, his "Evolution of Adam" book, and Walton's "Ancient Near Eastern Thought and the Old Testament". I'm hoping the last two won't be too scholarly for me. I'm actually half way through the "Genesis for Dummies" one though. :) In fact, if you read it and my latest blog, you are likely to find some similarities. :)

Reading or writing?
Comment by Jason on April 27, 2012 at 2:14pm PhitBodPJPhittle,
Got it. Read a few pages. Made a few highlights. Also made a note or two.
I'm not reasonably impressed.
One of these days I'll actually interact with it here or on my blog.
Comment by Daniel on April 27, 2012 at 2:46pm Make sure you drop me a line when you post your thoughts. I'd love to read them. I'm about half way through it now, and while I've found a few things I don't agree with, I appreciate his approach.
Comment by Daniel on April 27, 2012 at 2:48pm Marv, you know that when I right, it's generally for you. So I guess you'll have to answer that question. :)
Comment by Jason on April 27, 2012 at 2:58pm So far the biggie is the JEDP being uncritically accepted and presented as the only scholarly view on the matter.
Will try to deal with it in the future. I'm waiting on some materials that I need right now so that I can meet a writing deadline for Sunday School literature.
Comment by Marv on April 27, 2012 at 3:17pm right, rite, write, wright
Comment by Daniel on April 27, 2012 at 3:18pm I didn't take JEDP as a heavy influence in the book at all. I think the primary point is that it wasn't all written by Moses and we have to take when it was written and who did it as part of the context.
Comment by Daniel on April 27, 2012 at 3:21pm Marv, at this point, I'm excited to still be awake and upright. :) That's about to change though. Have to go to the bank before 6 and that isn't happening unless I get some horizontal time between now and then.
