Theologica

a bible, theology, politics, news, networking, and discussion site

1. The Living God is my Father.

2. More than just doctrinal truths, I have the unshakable promises of a Person who loves me and will keep me saved.

3. The God who saved me and is saving me and will save me has not left me alone: He is in me and accomplishes His will in and through me.

4. What God wants from and for me, more than anything else, is to get to know Him intimately.

5. Jesus has entrusted not only the Gospel to me but also the Holy Spirit, who makes the Gospel effective.

6. God is the only Father I have right now, and He likes me.

7. I am part of the Church, an institution, but also the Body of Christ, an organism.

8. Jesus covers me with His blood.

9. God values me, no matter what anyone else thinks.

10. One day it will be all about Jesus and differences won't matter. Or exist.

11. Jesus has given me His righteousness to wear.

12. God has given me all that is necessary for eternal life.

13. Jesus wants me to have dinner with Him. He calls it communion. I'm always welcome.

14. God wants me to pray and listens to me when I do.

15. God has revealed Himself to me. This makes me want to worship Him.

16. Jesus tells me what is important; then He provides those things for me.

17. God has redeemed, is redeeming, and will redeem all of me. Every part matters to Him.

18. God welcomes my searching out His creation.

19. God loves me even though I'm wrong about a lot of stuff.

20. God has given me a book about Himself but He really wants me to seek Him. And He allows Himself to be found, even by me.

I won't take the bait, Char, to honour the fact that this is Mike's post.

There's such a thing as more of all of the Holy Spirit?
ScottL Comment by ScottL on November 8, 2009 at 6:03am
Mike -

Yes, I did think that was your intent. I kind of said in tongue-and-cheek.

Char -

I guess I could start one as charismatic which says I get more of the Holy Spirit. ;)
Of course, others will say I get to develop more whacko theology. :)

Scottle I'm planning on writing one of these called why I love being reformed. Here's my list thus far:

I get to be a heartless jerk who's smarter than you about everything.
Losers.

Obviously I need to flesh it out more but I'm sure you get the idea.

Scott, I think "Christian" covers them all.

And part of my purpose with this post was to emphasize that our focus should not be in what sets us apart from other believers, but what we share by the grace of God.

So maybe we should ask varying members to continue this series. We have one for Christians, Catholics (Romans), Orthodox (Eastern), Evangelical. Maybe we should now ask for Calvinist, Arminian, Dispensational, Covenantal, Charismatic, Pentecostal, Cessationist, Amillenial, Postmillenial, Complementarian, Egalitarian, Inerrantist, etc, ad infinitum.
